Darth Vader was, effectively, the Emperor’s second-in-command and he answered only to him and no one else. Jace Malcom, on the other hand, is raring to go, as seen in the Alderaan bonus series, and yet hes retired from the field, so he needs a new job. Thats a lot for one man to go through, even a Supreme Commander. Darth Vader is the earliest bearer of that title and it seems that it gave him authority over everyone except the Emperor himself. And while youre out fighting Darth Serevin, he gets targeted by an assassin and once again badly injured. Yet, at one point, Darth Vader did get an official title, which was called: Supreme Commander of the Imperial Forces, Supreme Commander of the Imperial Fleet, Supreme Fleet Commander.
